Merano Tappeiner Trail
Sometimes you don't need high peaks to enjoy great views. The Tappeiner Trail, often referred to as the ‘Merano Waalweg’, runs like a green ribbon above the spa town, offering new perspectives on Merano, the Adige Valley and the surrounding mountains with every step.

Take a seat in a comfortable wooden armchair and enjoy the panorama: Knottnkino in Vöran offers a unique view over the Adige Valley – from the Dolomites to the Ötztal Alps. A natural cinema that shows a new ‘programme’ every day and every season.
Getting there & parking
By car: From Hotel Adria, continue to Hafling. Parking (subject to a charge) is available directly in Hafling village below the parish church.
By bus: Line 225 Merano – Hafling – Falzeben (to Hafling village, then change to line 204)
Route
This family-friendly hike begins at the car park in Hafling village, below the parish church. From here, trail no. 16 first leads along a small asphalt road, then along a forest path towards the Bruggen pond – an idyllic spot for a first break or a small picnic.
At the pond, trail no. 11 branches off, and shortly after a farm, follow trail no. 14, which climbs gently through the forest and finally leads to Knottnkino. Once at the top, 30 chestnut wood cinema seats invite you to linger – with the most beautiful film nature has to offer.
The way back is again via trail no. 14 to the crossroads. From there, continue left on trails no. 12 and 12A back to Hafling village.

Note
The tour is generally family-friendly, but we recommend caution in winter: night-time sub-zero temperatures can cause the paths to freeze over. Grödel (snow chains for hiking boots) provide additional safety.
